Legal Counsel

On behalf of our client, a payment-provider orchestration company, we are looking for a Legal Counsel that will support the Head of Legal & Compliance in developing and maintaining the Company’s legal framework during the Company's implementation and growth phases. The role offers broad exposure across commercial legal work, corporate governance, regulatory implementation and strategic projects. As the Company grows, the successful candidate will become an integral member of the Legal Function, with opportunities to assume increasing responsibility and progress into senior legal roles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including merchant, PSP, supplier, SaaS, referral and confidentiality agreements.

• Support the development and maintenance of the company’s legal documentation, contract templates and contract lifecycle processes.

• Assist with corporate governance matters, Board documentation, company secretarial work and corporate administration.

• Conduct legal research relating to financial services, payments, technology and international regulatory developments.

• Support strategic legal projects, including corporate structuring, jurisdictional expansion and licensing initiatives.

• Coordinate with external legal advisers and corporate service providers across multiple jurisdictions.

• Assist in the legal implementation of regulatory initiatives, including PCI DSS, PSD2, DORA, the EU AI Act and GDPR, working alongside external consultants where required.

• Support cross-functional projects involving Product, Technology, Compliance and Operations teams to ensure legal alignment throughout implementation.

Requirements:

Essential

• Qualified lawyer in Cyprus, the United Kingdom or another common law jurisdiction.

• Approximately 2–5 years' post-qualification experience.

• Experience in commercial and corporate legal work.

• Excellent legal drafting, analytical and research skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Commercial mindset with the ability to provide practical legal advice.

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable

• Experience in fintech, payments, financial services or technology.

• Familiarity with financial regulation, GDPR or AML frameworks.

• Experience working with cross-border corporate structures.

• Interest in emerging financial technologies and international business.
