Head of Technology & Product

We are seeking on behalf of our client a senior Head of Technology & Product to drive the evolution of our in-house platform from an early-stage Proof of Concept into a fully secure, resilient, compliant, and scalable production environment. This hands-on strategic role combines product vision with technical strategy, modernization, security, and operational excellence.

The Head of Technology & Product will lead architecture, engineering, product planning, compliance alignment, and delivery execution. They will translate Technology Risk Assessment findings into a clear delivery roadmap, ensuring the platform meets regulatory requirements while enhancing customer experience and long-term scalability.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

1.    Technology and Product Strategy

• Own the end-to-end technical and product roadmap.

• Prioritize remediation of critical risks highlighted in the tech risk assessment.

• Translate commercial objectives into technical requirements and sequenced delivery milestones.

• Collaborate with product, UX and operational teams to define and refine user journey.

2.          Architecture & Platform Ownership

• Define and implement the target architecture for the app, APIs, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure.

• Lead the migration to an enterprise-grade backend framework and robust cloud-native setup (K8s, HA Postgres, Redis, blob storage, message broker, observability stack).

• Introduce standards for API design, security, separation of concerns, multi-tenancy, documentation and system flows.

3.         Engineering Leadership & Delivery

• Lead a lean and high-performing engineering organization across backend, mobile, frontend, QA and DevOps/SRE.

• Improve engineering discipline through automated testing, CI/CD gating, code quality standards, documentation and development workflows

4.           Security, Governance & Compliance

• Own the security control matrix and ensure full remediation of gaps (logging, RBAC, encryption, SCA, pen-testing, vulnerability scanning).

• Ensure compliance readiness for PSD2, PCI DSS, GDPR, ISO 27001 and SOC 2.

• Introduce auditability across all systems (immutable logs, 7-year retention policies, webhook logging, session revocation).

• Partner closely with Risk, Compliance and the executive team for reporting and regulatory engagement.

Job requirements:

• 7+ years of leadership experience in fintech, payments, or financial services.

• Proven experience building and operating regulated or high‑availability platforms (fintech, banking, payments, insurance or similar)

• Deep knowledge of modern backend architectures (e.g., Java/Spring Boot or equivalent), cloud-native environments (Kubernetes, managed cloud services), Postgres/Redis, distributed systems and messaging.

• Proven ability to build/manage security functions in fast-growing or startup environments.

• Strong product sense: can turn customer and business needs into a coherent technical roadmap.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer) would be considered as advantage.

• Background in regulated environments and familiarity with PSD2, PCI DSS, GDPR and ISO frameworks.
