Job description
We are seeking on behalf of our client, a leading payment company, a highly experienced and detail-oriented FinOps Specialist to drive cloud cost efficiency and financial accountability across the organisation's technology landscape. The role encompasses owning cost optimisation strategy, cloud financial reporting, budget visibility, and cross-functional governance, ensuring scalable, controlled, and transparent technology spend within a fast-paced, regulated payments environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage cloud cost visibility, allocation, forecasting, and optimisation across products, platforms, and environments.
Monitor cloud consumption trends, identify cost anomalies, and highlight optimisation opportunities across compute, storage, networking, databases, and managed services.
Support the definition and enforcement of tagging standards, cost allocation models, and budget visibility controls.
Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Architecture, and Finance teams to improve cloud efficiency while maintaining performance, scalability, and reliability.
Execute cost optimisation initiatives such as rightsizing, reserved capacity planning, storage lifecycle improvements, and cleanup of underutilised resources.
Prepare regular reporting on cloud spend, forecast trends, realised savings, and financial risks.
Support budgeting and planning cycles by providing usage analysis, spend projections, and variance insights.
Contribute to reporting automation and improvement of FinOps processes, controls, and governance practices.
Help promote cost-aware engineering practices through clear reporting, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.
Maintain traceability and supporting documentation for cloud financial controls, allocation logic, and reporting methodologies.
Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years in FinOps, cloud cost management, infrastructure operations, or technology finance.
Strong experience managing and optimising cloud spend in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
Solid understanding of cloud pricing models and infrastructure cost drivers across compute, storage, networking, databases, and containerised platforms.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cloud cost reporting.
Hands-on experience with cloud cost management tools and reporting dashboards.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies, cost drivers, and optimisation opportunities.
Good understanding of cloud architecture, DevOps practices, and platform usage patterns.
Ability to work closely with Engineering, DevOps, Architecture, and Finance stakeholders.
Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to translate technical consumption into clear financial insight.
Familiarity with tagging strategies, cost allocation practices, and cloud governance controls.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent preferred.
