Financial Controller (Hybrid)

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the company’s day-to-day finance function.

This role combines operational accounting with financial reporting, control and analysis. It would suit someone who is comfortable working closely with the detail while providing management with accurate and timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the company’s daily accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.

• Manage customer and supplier invoicing, accounting entries, accruals and journals.

• Lead credit control, monitor outstanding balances and follow up on collections.

• Complete bank, customer, supplier and balance-sheet reconciliations.

• Coordinate payroll information and ensure the accurate recording and reconciliation of payroll-related entries.

• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash-flow reports and financial analysis.

• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.

• Prepare and coordinate VAT, tax and other statutory submissions.

• Act as the main liaison with external accountants, tax advisers and auditors.

• Support the year-end audit and ensure all required schedules and information are provided on time.

• Monitor cash flow and working capital and promptly highlight financial risks.

• Strengthen internal controls, improve finance procedures and document key processes.

• Provide management with practical financial insights to support business decisions.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.

• ACA, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification would be considered an advantage.

• At least five years of hands-on accounting or finance experience, ideally within a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Accountant position.

• Strong experience in management accounts, reconciliations, credit control, VAT, tax support and audit preparation.

• Good knowledge of accounting or ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

• Highly organised, accurate and able to manage competing deadlines.

• Commercially aware and able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

• High levels of integrity, confidentiality and personal accountability.

• A practical mindset and willingness to remain closely involved in daily finance operations.
