Composites Structural Analysis Engineer

About the role

On behalf of a client, an advanced materials and composites company, we are looking for an experienced Composites Structural Analysis Engineer to act as the technical authority on materials, experimental design and characterisation across the project portfolio.

It is a core-engineering role in the design process of reliable composite component products. It will shape how projects are approached technically, what materials go in, how manufacturing is designed, what gets tested and what the results mean and how do they correlate with engineering analysis.

What you'll do

• Define technical requirements and specifications for composite engineering development projects.

• Advise on material selection across resin systems, fibre architectures and reinforcements, and provide impregnation and prepreg guidance.

• Mechanical Design of composite components.

• Finite Element Analysis of multilayer composite structures.

• Analyse data, draw conclusions and translate them into design and process decisions.

• Prepare technical reports and documentation for project deliverables and funding bodies.

• Contribute to journal papers, conference presentations and patent applications.

• Take part in idea-generation sessions and the company's internal innovation committee, helping shape the direction of future engineering development.

What we're looking for

Essential

• Diploma and/or MSc in Materials Science, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with fibre-reinforced polymer composites in a research, development or industrial setting.

• Strong working knowledge of resin systems and fibre reinforcements, and how processing decisions affect final properties.

• Practical experience designing and running mechanical and physical characterisation programmes.

• Ability to interpret experimental data independently and communicate conclusions clearly in writing.

• Fluent written and spoken English.

Desirable

• Familiarity with NX Siemens/ Abaqus / Ansys

• Experience with composites manufacturing and finite element analysis.

• Familiarity with standards — ECSS, ASTM, ISO

• Track record of peer-reviewed publications.

• Experience working to externally funded project deliverables, timelines and budgets.
